Evin B. Hartsell Endowed Memorial Scholarship
The Florida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC) offers scholarship support to trainees living with disabilities or studying disability services. This scholarship honors the legacy of Evin B. Hartsell, a veteran and disability advocate.
Award Amount
$1,000 per year ($500 per semester for up to two semesters)
Application Deadline
June 1st annually for the following academic year
Who Can Apply?
You must be an active FCIC trainee enrolled as a full- or part-time student (sophomore level or above, including graduate students) at USF in one of the following programs:
- Social Work or Counseling (College of Behavioral & Community Sciences)
- Psychology (College of Arts & Sciences)
Selection Priorities
Awards are based on financial need and the following preferences:
- Students with a disability who are U.S. Military Veterans with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Students with a disability who are U.S. Military Veterans
- Students with a disability
- Any FCIC trainee dedicated to the study of disabilities (if no applicants meet the above preferences,
in accordance with the DD Act of 2000)
Application Requirements
To apply, you must:
- Read Abled in a Disabled World by Evin B. Hartsell (available through the USF library)
- Submit an essay reflecting on the book
- Provide a current resume
